LG Aero Comfort System
Adjust Ceiling Fan Speed with the Remote Controller of Air Conditioner for faster and even cooling! Designed and developed in 2010 with R&D Center at LG Electronics India.
The Context
In India, it’s common for people to use a ceiling fan and air conditioner together to achieve optimal comfort. While the AC cools the air, the ceiling fan helps circulate it evenly across the room, creating a pleasant breeze and reducing hotspots. This combination allows users to set the AC at a higher temperature, saving energy without compromising comfort. The ceiling fan accelerates the cooling effect, making the room feel cooler faster. This practice reflects a smart and cost-effective approach to climate control, balancing comfort with efficiency—an adaptation rooted in India’s warm climate and energy-conscious mindset.
The Pain Point
The problem was that both were two separate products and had to be operated individually leading to a cumbersome user experience.
The Insight
Let us create a unified product that would synchronise the AC with the Ceiling Fan so that users could control the fan speed as well as the temperature of Air Conditioner with just one remote. Additionally, one could also set the timer as to when the fan speed would be regulated as per the increase or decrease of the room temperature.
The Idea
The product had to be designed such that it is easy to install and operate without much of a hassle. Most importantly it had to be aesthetically pleasing and very minimal so that it does not stand out screaming “look at me” from the ceiling.
Final Product
The final product was designed in plastic to match the overall aesthetics of the ceiling fan, thus providing the customer with a product with enhanced aesthetics plus unique functionality. Now both the Ceiling Fan and the Air Conditioner could be controlled via this device using one remote which was provided to the consumer. Launched in the Indian market by LG Electronics, India.
